Aluminum tanks, unlike steel tanks, do not rust. Instead, they oxidize. The oxidation of aluminum creates a protective layer that helps prevent corrosion, reducing the likelihood of the tank being condemned due to excessive corrosion. When shipped, the tank valves will be removed, and the tank will need to be re-inspected before being filled.
