Store has an excellent selection of scuba gear including wet suits, regulators, dive computers, fins, lights, and other accessories. They will order your size if they don’t have it in the store. Great service by the staff. Staff is very knowledgeable about gear and certification choices. Good instructors. Great dive trips available as well. The dive shop, indoor heated pool, and gear is all top notch. All the employees were so helpful and seem to genuinely care. They clearly have the highest regard for safety. Brent Cannon35 days agoI have been thinking about getting my Open Water Scuba Certification for a long time, but honestly it was a little intimidating and I didn’t know where to start. Lucky for me I have friend in Tom Horn who owns Salt & Sea Scuba and he helped get me started. Once I had completed the online learning it was time to do my pool dives and then the open water dives at Lake Pleasant. That’s where I was introduced to Danny George and Travis (sorry Travis I didn’t get your last name) who were our instructors. I simply can’t say enough about Danny and Travis, they are great instructors, great scuba divers, knowledgeable, and just great guys! So here’s my advice, if you’ve ever wondered about getting your open water certification, go to Salt & Sea Scuba and get certified…, you’ll have a blast, learn a lot, and gain a great new hobby. James Park35 days agoI have always wanted to learn how to Scuba dive and only just recently had the time and motivation to go for my certification. I am very glad I decided to pursue my Open Water certification at Salt and Sea Scuba. From the intake, self-study, closed then the open water training, the process was superb. All the instructors (Tom, Danny and Travis) were professional, patient and made sure that we understood each part of the certification process and the importance of safety and following the correct protocol. Though underwater visibility was challenging at Lake Pleasant, it is a testament to the instructors being able to instill the skills required for certification despite the conditions. I am looking forward to exploring the underwater world certification opens. I highly recommend Salt and Sea Scuba for your diving needs!Posted on Google

Monty Ikram72 days agoFull service scuba shop in the middle of the desert. It was a little unexpected, because who would have expected a scuba shop in Phoenix. They have a full range of training classes, a variety of instructors, all the equipment you need. They also service your stuff if you need them to be. Nice people always have time to answer your questions, or if you need help they are patient enough to give you suggestions, or even go do the research on your behalf. My 12 year old daughter, and myself just got PADI Open Water diver certified. Highly recommended!Posted on Google

Nicole Stoutner109 days agoWe had such a wonderful experience with Salt and Sea Dive Shop. After a not-so-great experience with another dive shop, we called Salt and Sea, and right away they were professional, kind, and incredibly accommodating. They helped my 12-year-old complete her Open Water certification and also become Nitrox certified. They were patient, encouraging, and especially great with kids, which made the entire experience feel safe and positive. One thing that makes Salt and Sea stand out is that they have their own pool, so families do not have to drive all over town trying to find a public pool that will allow divers. Their shop is also large, well-stocked, and full of great dive gear. They also offer lots of fun dive trips, which is a huge bonus. Most of all, we really appreciated the care, support, and encouragement from Divemasters Ryan Pare and Desi Rodriguez, and Course Director Mike Moran. Bijal Patel220 days agoI have been coming to Salt and Sea for years. At first, it was because of the exceptional customer care and safety standards of the team. Now, it’s for that and ohhhh all the amazzzzing gear. So many cute dive gal accessories too. I was late in getting my gear serviced before a trip to Honduras this January and Ryan/Tom saved my trip with an urgent gear serving. They also flagged the issue I suspected to be having with my bcd inflator and took care of my urgent issue before I boarded my flight. This is a team of LIFESAVERS. And vacation savers 💕🤿💕 There is no other dive shop in the world where I have seen this level of attention and care. And I have been diving for 28 years. I needed some new gear before an upcoming trip and stopped in. They let me try on masks in their swimming pool to make sure that the fit was perfect. I felt listened to, safe, and fully prepared for each training exercise and dive we performed. My love of scuba has been renewed! Ryan was also great handing all of my many questions every time I called the shop. Amy Bean338 days agoAbove and beyond! I can't say enough good things about this dive shop and our instructor, Morgan. My 13-yr-old daughter and I took the Open Water Course here. When it got to the pool and lake dives, my daughter had some trouble equalizing her ears and was a little fearful. Morgan and the entire team at Salt and Sea (Ryan helped us in the shop, Joe also helped us on the lake dives) went above and beyond to help my daughter overcome the equalization issues and her nervousness. By the end of the course she was loving it all and is now excited to go on our first recreational dive. Part way through the course I thought that my daughter might not be able to complete it, but due to Morgan's patience, experience and teaching expertise, we were able to finish the course and be certified together. In preparation of our class the staff was so patient and helpful in our choosing our initial equipment. Our class was led by John Sandstrom and our dive master was Dezirae, and both were just amazing. Each was very patient with us, and they utilized their PADI training and personal experiences to help each of us throughout our training. Their demeanor help decrease any stress and nervousness we had before and during our class. A welcome addition to the before mentioned trainers was “Bruce”, who also was an amazing addition to our learning environment. John, Dezirae and Bruce helped me achieve a life long goal in achieving my Basic Open Water Certification. It was truly gratifying to see the transformation from the initial stages of our training to our classes fourth open water dive. It is a testament to John’s, Dezirae’s and Bruce’s dedication to new scuba divers learning the sport. This was my very first time ever trying scuba, and the entire experience blew me away. Not only was it incredibly fun and exciting, but the way Adam and Melissa taught and guided us made all the difference. They were patient, knowledgeable, and super encouraging from start to finish. I never once felt uncomfortable or unsure. They made everything feel safe and easy to learn. Their passion for diving really shows, and it made the class feel more like an adventure than just a lesson. We had initially purchased a Groupon from another local scuba shop that ended up being a bait and switch. Salt and Sea Suba was honest and upfront from the onset our conversation and within 3 weeks we were officially Padi certified! Every employee is friendly, knowledgeable, and honest! Janice O'Callaghan539 days agoI have purchased a mask, a year and half ago and fins more recently at this store, as I believed they would be knowledgeable enough to fit me for equipment as a specialty dive shop. The mask they suggested didn’t properly fit my face, when I got it into the water I couldn’t keep it from leaking. When I tried to return it the sales clerk told me people come in all the time saying they have trouble with water getting into the masks and basically it was because they didn’t properly know how to use a mask. My partner had a much less expensive mask that I borrowed and had no trouble with. The fins I recently bought there also were poorly fitted to me- I wore them once and not only were they heavy and stiff but actually made a blister on my foot, absolutely the worst set of fins I ever used. As I had used both items one time they would not let me return them. It seems the staff here is more interested in making sales than properly fitting equipment for their customers. I will shop at a regular sporting goods store from now on for snorkeling gear.Posted on Google

First, the staff could not have been more welcoming or helpful, a big shoutout and Thank You to Jason. The store itself is very well stocked, inviting, and bright. Did I mention the warm, immaculate indoor 12 foot deep pool attached to the store where I do my equipment checkouts before trips. A hot shower, and immaculate bathroom/changing rooms. Jeff Raebel625 days agoBy Far the best group of dive masters and Instructors I’ve witnessed. Loved taking the open water course over. Haven’t dove in 30ish years and they made me feel right at home. Big shout out to all the team, I’m sorry if I miss someone pool instructor Jason and backed up by Danny, Lake dives with Jose and backed up by Danny. We did so well we where able to see all the major underwater fun things like the trunk, poker table, Jason with a beer bottle in his left breast pocket and also lucky enough to see the sunken boat. All tasks completed and extra skill taught. Love this group and can’t say enough. Got a bunch of new life friends. Oh and Tom the owner is so chill great great guy. I needed to get the certification done in two weeks before a vacation and they were the only shop in town that could do it in time. Not only that, the instructors Randy and John were fantastic and very attentive. I feel comfortable and confident to dive after the course, the shop itself was professional, responsive experienced, and the facilities were excellent. Kim Reynolds779 days agoIf you are looking for a dive shop, this is it. I've been ho humming about getting certified for a year or so. About a month ago, I went in to talk to their staff and met Jason. He spent at least an hour with me, answering my questions, which I had a lot of. I am over 50 and big girl, so I had some real legitimate concerns. I ended up registering for my class that day. When it was time to buy my personal gear, I went back. Again, Jason spent over an hour with me, not selling me the most expensive, but the best gear for ME. Though I did spring for the Tusa Paragon mask. I recommend that, too. When it came time for my in water instruction, I was very nervous. But my dive instructor, Grizz, and dive master, Robbie, were phenomenal. Grizz was incredibly patient, he would keep working with us until we had the skill down. Then it was time for open water. Our first day was hot and icky, and after 2 dives, I was done. So rather than doing a third dive, Grizz respected my limits and we planned for two dives today. I did not feel like I was being difficult or that I let the group down. Grizz and Robbie both assured me that I did the right thing in speaking up. So, this morning, we got to the lake and it had been pouring all night. Grizz was concerned with traversing the area from vehicles to lake in the mud at Vista Point, so he decided to move us to the other side. I tell you this so you understand that he was concerned for our well being in ALL things related to the experience, not just when we are the water. Today we finished our last two dives and we all passed! Again, I cannot speak highly enough of this shop and it's staff and instructors.Posted on Google

Deanna Chea808 days agoI was passing through Phoenix from Las Vegas and stopped at a random dive shop, and I’m so glad it was this one. I cannot recommend this place enough for how kind, knowledgeable, and exceptional the workers here were. They were attentive and the atmosphere was immediately welcoming. Jason is the store manager and one of the diving instructors, and he was able to answer every question we had and give us suggestions on places to dive here and in Austin, TX. Ryan and Jocelyn were also working today and were great to talk to. Ryan was able to identify the leaking burst disc on my cylinder and showed me exactly what was happening. Kind, funny and super knowledgeable. His exercises to get all the team ready were spot on. We had a nice ratio of instructors to newbies. He was so helpful and knowledgeable about what was going to be best for us going forward and what gear we would need. Once we decided what kind of schedule we were looking at for lessons, he got us in touch with our instructor Joe and we were ready to get started. Joe was an amazing instructor. Morgan Kimmins870 days agoWhat an incredible experience I had here. I procrastinated getting certified until the last possible week. I called around and Tom and the crew could get me in… Sometimes the universe does things for you. The staff were incredible, I left my mask there the day before my first dive, and couldn’t clean it. The guys had it cleaned/scrubbed and waiting for me when I got to our first dive day! I forget his name, but the staff member that helped me pick out my equipment was super helpful, knowledgeable and patient as was a bit overwhelmed at first. The entire staff was supportive, super knowledgeable and genuinely wanted to make sure you felt comfortable with all the things we were learning. Bruce was some patient, so easy to learn from, awesome and supportive but taught us the right way and didn’t let us miss anything! When we got to the lake, I saw I made the right choice, as other schools weren’t near as organized or thorough! I can’t wait to to go back and get the advanced training to go deeper, and I know exactly where I’m going! I was out at lake pleasant this week and while trying to do some recovery with my underwater drone I managed to get it stuck 30 ft down on a cable. Leaving it there I called Salt&Sea Scrub and from the second they answered the phone they were so kind and helpful offering a diver to come out that same day if needed. I met up with one of their divers Ryan and he was a super cool very knowledgeable guy. You could tell he loved what he does. He gave me some pointers and got my drone back safely very fast. Since I was the only one taking the refresher course, it became a 1:1 experience with a fantastic instructor, Bruce. He helped rectify some issues i was having with my form and breathing. I am so thankful for Salt and Sea Scuba for meeting all of our scuba needs. The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. Big shout out to my instructor, Wayne, who is highly experienced and great at instructing. I was very nervous in the beginning but he taught me the skills and confidence needed. When I didn’t think I could do it, he helped me through, and I am so thankful for his patience and kindness. He was so patient with my antics and let us borrow his gear in the cold water when we forgot ours. Also, he rescued my fins when i accidentally dropped them in the lake. Brittney Blue1098 days agoTo keep an absolutely long story short, these guys absolutely saved us! If I could give them more than 5 stars, I would! They went absolutely above and beyond to accommodate us! Myself and my friend came with a challenge, not only did we have to quit our course abruptly, with a completely unrelated instructor due to inappropriate and unsafe conduct, but we had a time crunch attached to it. Jason was the one to answer my call and he was with us every step of the way. He even went to the extent to help us after his scheduled hours to make sure we could get certified by the time our trip came around. I would like to mention the shop owner, (or one of them) Tom as well, for all he did. He made a few exceptions for us, and even contacted the regional director to make sure we were taken care of. I would also like to give another shout-out to Monica and Robyn who took time out of their personal lives to certify us and make us feel comfortable. Overall, this shop and people are amazing! They really made it feel like a community that I could be apart of. If you’ve ever had an itch to learn scuba, I could not recommend them more! I came into this with a slight fear of deep water but knew that the ocean would be incredible once I moved passed that ( and guess what! It was!) Morgan served as my Dive Trainer and was superb. She was very professional and carefully explained the various training exercises. She was thorough and helped make me feel very comfortable in the water. You can tell that she loves teaching others the joy of scuba diving. Stefanie1103 days agoMy boyfriend and I decided to get scuba certified last year, and I’m so happy we found Salt and Sea! They’re the only dive shop in the valley we go to for everything. The class with Tristin and Grizz was the most welcoming, patient, but still fun learning experience I’ve ever had. They even made sure to check on me that I wasn’t being pressured into scuba by my boyfriend - which wasn’t the case, but I’m very grateful they look out for people like that! They do smaller class sizes so the instructors actually have time to thoroughly teach everyone. Overall, the class was an amazing experience, the shop and staff are wonderful. So we signed up for the discover scuba course and… WOW!! It exceeded all expectations, gave us exactly what we needed to determine if scuba was for us and was an awesome experience! They have a great selection and spent a lot of time fitting us to the best mask for our face and explained what the different lenses can do. Matt1166 days agoAwesome dive shop stocked full with just about anything you would need to go diving! Some really sweet back plate setups if you want a more comfortable and customized fit. Great classroom with plenty of space to do your work in a class. The pool looked really well maintained and clean with plenty of space for a large class of divers to be able to swim without bumping into anyone. Compressors are all in great condition with air mixing capabilities for whatever mixed gas you could need. Penny R1195 days agoI would highly recommend Salt & Sea Scuba and specifically Randy Parker for your scuba certification. I did not realize I was dealing with a traumatic childhood situation when I started my water courses with Randy. My younger brother had held me under water when I was about 8 yrs old, and ever since then (for 52 yrs) I panic anytime water has a chance of getting in my nose. Well Randy was extremely patient with me and even offered to postpone my open water dives because he could see how much I was struggling at the lake. He allowed me the time to work through this at my own pace, he never pressured me to do something I wasn’t ready for, and I never felt any irritation from him, only patience & care that I was comfortable. Also, Salt & Sea Scuba allowed me to try some of their demo masks, since I was having problems with the one I purchased. Which helped me find a mask that worked better for me. My brother and I had all of our questions answered at the shop before signing up, and the instructors made the education process informative and fun while learning every step of the way. Tristin even worked with me at the end of class until I felt comfortable taking my mask off under water. Even before the class, they never got tired of me asking questions about all the gear I wanted to purchase and gave great advice on what's important and what isn't. I just got home from a dive trip in San Carlos, MX that I booked with Salt & Sea. We interacted with sea lions, saw giant turtles and all kinds of other awesome marine life. Justin did a great job planning and leading the trip and it was certainly not the last one I booked with them. Tristan our lead instructor was professional, kind, patient, and fun. He consistently delivered the material in a way that helped us all successfully learn and demonstrate proficiency in the skills required to complete the course. His awareness and generosity helped each student through the parts of the course that were most challenging for them individually. Whether it was a fear or a physical challenge, Tristan adapted his instruction or pace to help that student progress. It was an awesome experience to be a part of. A huge thank you to Randy who was with us much of the time, as a support instructor. Super nice, great skills and communication. Randy was super generous with his time and experience. We were always glad to have him join our class. Another thank you to Joe, who jumped in to help us on one of our open dives. He might have the biggest smile in Arizona. We were lucky to see it up close, and learn some cool stuff from him. We appreciated all of the staff at the shop. Stephanie and Ty, thanks for taking such good care of us. Going through the process was very easy because they were so patient and knowledgeable about all of the skills that were required. I probably wasn’t the easiest client but their patience was fabulous and I became certified today. I would highly recommend Salt and Sea Scuba to anyone interested in getting certified…and their pool is very warm and comfortable for the confined water skills. Steve L1504 days agoThese guys are awesome. I learned about them a few weeks back and their dedication to the customer service experience so far is amazing. I recently bought a dive computer from them. I took it home and realized it wasn’t working (no fault of theirs). They gladly replaced it and since the only model they had was an upgraded one, they gave me that for my trouble. Who does that!!! In addition, they have a great selection of gear. I am updating my equipment and they have been very willing to spend ample time with me to help educate me on the new technology. This SCUBA shop has poor customer service and does not operate with integrity. My experience with "Justin", over a $76 refund, makes this evident. I have spent 10s of thousands of dollars at various SCUBA shops throughout the world. Dealing with this business is my only bad SCUBA shop experience, ever! Instead of operating in good faith as a business owner, Justin chose to take the low road by becoming argumentative, condescending, and expressing his overwhelming need to prove to me that he is right, and I am wrong, no matter how I tried to explain the facts of the issue. Justin's lack of leadership and care for (every) customer is a reflection of the culture of this SCUBA shop. I implore you to stay away. There are much better SCUBA shops in Arizona.Posted on Google
