Getting started
Try a Discover Scuba Diving session in our 12-foot heated indoor pool, or go straight into the PADI Open Water Diver course. Both are led by PADI professionals and require no prior experience.
Book online through the relevant course page, by phone, or in store. Full payment is required at booking.
Yes. Every student completes the PADI Diver Medical questionnaire before any in-water training. If you answer yes to certain questions, a physician must sign off before you can dive.
Discover Scuba Diving and Open Water start at age 10 (Junior certification for ages 10–14). Advanced Open Water and Rescue Diver start at 12. There is no upper age limit with medical clearance.
For certification you need basic water comfort: a 200 meter/yard swim (any stroke, no time limit) or a 300 meter mask-fin-snorkel swim, plus a 10-minute float. There is no swim test for Discover Scuba Diving, but you should have basic knowledge of swimming.
Yes. Contact lenses are fine, and we offer prescription mask lenses in store.
Yes. Certifications from recognized agencies are accepted for continuing education courses, gear rental and trips.
Scheduling and policies
We run classes on weeknights and weekends year-round, and private classes that fit your schedule are available for an additional fee. Classes are available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day when other classes are not already scheduled.
A $75 reschedule fee applies for a no-call or no-show.
Training fees are non-refundable. Please check your schedule and complete the medical questionnaire before enrolling.
Yes. Gift certificates are available for purchase in store.
Please call the shop at (602) 844-5732 to discuss group or family classes. We can work something out for groups or family members with four or more people booking at the same time.
Salt and Sea Scuba students receive a discount on their personal gear, including mask, snorkel, fins and boots. For military or first responder discounts, please call the shop at (602) 844-5732, as some restrictions apply.
Training and certification
At Lake Pleasant, northwest of Phoenix. The park charges an entry fee, which is paid by the student.
Swimsuit, towel and your own mask, snorkel, fins and boots. Bring your completed medical form if it has not already been submitted. All other equipment is provided.
Your personal gear, park entry fee, sun protection, food and water. Advanced students doing the night dive need a DSMB and two dive lights. Your instructor will confirm the time you will meet at Lake Pleasant (Vista Point Dive Site).
For life. If you have been out of the water for a while, a PADI ReActivate refresher in our heated pool brings your skills back and updates your card.
You will receive your PADI eCard within 24 hours after certification is completed. If you would like a physical card, one can be purchased for an additional fee.
Yes. We welcome referral students. Bring your referral paperwork and we will schedule your remaining dives.
Yes. Complete your eLearning and pool sessions with us and we will issue a PADI referral so you can finish your dives at your destination.
Pool and facilities
Yes. Our 12-foot heated indoor pool is available for hourly rental by certified divers and freedivers, for equipment testing and skills practice. Contact Salt and Sea Scuba at (602) 844-5732 for booking details and pricing.
Yes, free parking is available at the plaza.
Yes, family and friends can come and watch, but they are not allowed in the water at any time during training.
We offer air and nitrox fills. All cylinders must have a current visual inspection and hydro. If either is needed, Salt and Sea Scuba can provide these services.
Gear and shop
Only your mask, snorkel, fins and boots. BCD, regulator, tank, wetsuit and weights are provided for training.
Please contact the shop, as additional information may be required. In most cases, we will price match.
Yes. Our in-house technicians service regulators, BCDs and accessories from most major brands.
Yes, we ship across the US and internationally via UPS and USPS. Unused items with tags can be returned within 15 days with a 15% restocking fee; after that, store credit only. See our Shipping and Returns pages for details.
Membership and trips
Yes! Even if you only take one scuba diving trip each year, the free annual regulator service included with your membership can nearly pay for the membership on its own. Add in our free monthly scuba clinics, exclusive member trip discounts, and special savings throughout the year, and the value quickly exceeds the cost of membership. It's a great way to save money, stay dive-ready, and get more out of every diving adventure.
Contact the shop to reserve your spot. Payment is due in full at booking and is non-refundable, so we recommend purchasing travel insurance within 14 days.
We offer local dive site dives with a PADI professional for a small fee.
